WILDFIRE RISK REDUCTION
CENTRAL BC
Many interior communities are surrounded by scenic hills and forests, but these communities are at risk for significant loss of life and property if wildfire ever got out of control in the area. Reducing wildfire risk means decreasing wood fibre fuel sources in the forest, and one local contractor called upon EM3 to help. Wood had been piled throughout the wildfire risk reduction prescription areas but needed to get off site before dry spring/summer conditions arrived.
Using EM3’s fleet of horizontal grinders, supporting loaders and a continuous fleet of walking-floor style hauling trucks, our team turned over 40,000 cubic meters of wood into fibre suitable for reuse in the nearby bioenergy and wood pelleting plants in a little over two months.
